Jane McGonigal, puzzle designer for famed Halo 2 ARG ilovebees and author of Reality is Broken, has created an online game that challenges you to be SuperBetter, physically, mentally, emotionally and socially - effectively gamifying your life experiences by awarding stats for moving toward accomplishing your personal goals. (Like, +5 Physical Resilience for five seconds of exercise.)
If this shit could run offline on my Android and update whenever I’m in range of wifi access I’d be over the moon by now.
Also, if you’ve never checked out McGonigal’s TED talk on how gamifying social experiences can help us solve real-world problems IRL, then you should, now.
This could potentially be pretty cool. I’ve checked out their site a little and so far I’m reasonably impressed. I have yet to actually try it out and see whether it works like they say it does.
[Content: ableist slurs]
NOTE: Don’t actually do this. You will die of alcohol poisoning. I don’t recommend doing it with any other beverage either, since you’ll end up being over-hydrated.
Every time someone uses the words “crazy” or “insane” to describe something bad or out of control, take a drink.
Every time someone uses the word “psycho” to describe someone who has committed a crime or is abusive, take a drink.
Every time someone uses any variation of the word “retard” in a non-medical way, take a drink.
Every time someone uses the words “idiot” or “moron” to describe the GOP, take a drink. (And I’m not defending the GOP, but there are better ways to insult them than ableism)
Every time someone links autism to vaccines, take a drink.
Every time someone uses “survival of the fittest” to defend eugenics, take a drink.
>Give up midway through drinking
>Sob uncontrollably
>OR conversely, laugh because you don’t know how else to react.
>OR limit it to maybe 3 of these criteria
>And still end up with alcohol poisoning
Halfway through you could switch to orange juice….or something.
But yeah.
*sigh*

It sounds a little odd but it’s actually kind of cool.

This pictured surprised me, so I googled “Billie Piper Kaya Scodelario”
omg you guys
“True Love is a five-episode 2012 semi-improvised BBC television drama. Each episode is a self-contained story, devised through improvisation (a first for BBC1 drama), exploring an issue related to love and relationships. … Episode one centres on Nick (David Tennant), whose happy marriage is turned upside down by the reappearance of his first love. Episode two centres on Paul (Ashley Walters), a new dad who experiences ‘love at first sight’. Episode three centres on Holly (Billie Piper), a teacher who develops feelings for a female pupil (Kaya Scodelario). Episode four centres on Sandra (Jane Horrocks), a middle-aged woman in a stale marriage to an unfaithful husband. Episode five centres on Adrian (David Morrissey), a divorcee who becomes the victim of an obsessive love. While each episode is self-contained, the series is set in the same town and there is some overlap between episodes.”
There is going to be an improvised drama where Rose Tyler falls in lesbians with Effy Stonem.
